MosaicML

MosaicML was a generative AI platform founded in 2021 in San Francisco that specialized in making large language model (LLM) training efficient and accessible. The company developed state-of-the-art MPT (MosaicML Pretrained Transformer) large language models and open-source tooling including LLM Foundry — a highly efficient codebase for training, fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying LLMs — as well as the Composer training library for algorithmic efficiency. MosaicML's platform enabled organizations to train and deploy custom foundation models on their own infrastructure at significantly reduced cost and time compared to incumbent approaches. In July 2023, Databricks completed the acquisition of MosaicML for approximately $1.3 billion, integrating MosaicML's technology into the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform as Databricks Mosaic AI. The MosaicML GitHub organization (github.com/mosaicml) contains the open-source LLM Foundry and related repositories.
