Mill Computing

Mill Computing, Inc. is a Silicon Valley-based CPU architecture company incorporated in March 2014 (after a decade of development as Out-of-the-Box Computing, started in 2003) that is designing a clean-sheet general-purpose processor architecture called the Mill CPU. The architecture takes novel approaches across most major areas of processor design — statically scheduled low-power hardware, direct operation-to-operation result routing, informed on-chip memory management, and hardware-enforced security through a separate machine state stack — to deliver faster, more power-efficient, and more secure computation compared to conventional dynamically-scheduled CPUs. The company operates as a distributed, sweat-equity organization with contributors worldwide and has filed over 20 patents, 17 of which were granted as of early 2022, targeting both re-compiled existing workloads and multi-threaded high-performance computing.
