Founded in 1986 in the Netherlands by Dutch TV meteorologist Harry Otten as Meteo Consult B.V., the company expanded across 14+ countries and became one of the largest private weather businesses in Europe with nearly 400 employees. MeteoGroup was acquired by General Atlantic in 2013 and then by TBG AG in 2018. In November 2019, the company was fully integrated into US weather services company DTN and ceased to operate as an independent entity.
