Maxwell Labs is a deep-tech photonics startup pioneering Photonic Cooling — a new physical mechanism that uses laser light via anti-Stokes fluorescence to extract heat directly from semiconductor chips without fluids or moving parts. The technology can deliver over 1,000 W/mm² of cooling power density, orders of magnitude beyond conventional liquid cooling, enabling AI chips and data center infrastructure to run at full performance without thermal throttling. Founded in 2019 and based in Minnesota, Maxwell Labs collaborates with Sandia National Laboratories and the University of New Mexico, and has been featured in IEEE Spectrum for its breakthrough approach.
