Maluuba was a Montreal-based deep learning startup founded in 2011 by University of Waterloo graduates Kaheer Suleman and Sam Pasupalak. The company built state-of-the-art natural language processing and machine comprehension systems, with a research focus on teaching machines to think, reason, and communicate. Maluuba's team developed landmark NLP datasets and models before being acquired by Microsoft in January 2017 to accelerate AI research within Microsoft Research in Montreal.
