M-Systems Ltd. was a Nasdaq-listed Israeli flash memory company founded in 1989 by Dov Moran and Aryeh Mergi, headquartered in Kfar Saba, Israel. The company pioneered flash storage technology, most notably inventing and patenting DiskOnChip (1995), the first flash drive used in embedded computing, and DiskOnKey (2000), the world's first USB flash drive, co-marketed with IBM. M-Systems also developed TrueFFS (True Flash Filing System), which allowed computers to treat flash memory as a disk drive. The company collaborated with Samsung, Toshiba, and IBM and was listed on Nasdaq before being acquired by SanDisk in an all-stock transaction worth approximately $1.55 billion in November 2006.
