Louthan Engineering is a Baltimore, Maryland-based engineering consulting firm specializing in propulsion and engine technology for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Led by mechanical engineer and owner Len Louthan, the firm has established machine works capabilities and an in-house design facility to pursue independent engine research. Its principal's experience in UAS propulsion dates to work initiated in the 1980s, organizing new propulsion technologies around vertical takeoff and landing, long-endurance, stealthy operations, and stability in hostile environments. The company's clients are primarily involved in rotary and piston engine applications.
