Bike Share — Electrified
JUMP Bikes is a dockless electric bicycle sharing system founded in 2010 by Ryan Rzepecki in Brooklyn, New York. Originally launched as Social Bicycles, JUMP pioneered the integration of GPS and smart locks into bikes before rebranding and expanding its electric-assist bike share network to cities across the United States, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand. JUMP bikes feature integrated e-assist technology that provides a boost up to 20mph with every pedal stroke, combined with a dockless locking system that allows riders to lock to existing bike racks. Uber acquired JUMP in April 2018 for approximately $200 million and integrated it into the Uber app, though the service was later wound down in 2020.
