iotaMotion is a medical technology company focused on advancing cochlear implant surgery beyond human capability. Founded in 2015 by surgeons from the University of Iowa, iotaMotion developed the iotaSOFT Insertion System — the first and only FDA-cleared robotic-assisted cochlear implant electrode array insertion system. The iotaSOFT system reduces insertion speed to 0.1 mm/s to minimize forces within the cochlea, improving hearing preservation outcomes compared to manual procedures. As of 2025, iotaSOFT has been used in over 1,000 clinical procedures across more than 25 implant centers in the United States, with growing pediatric adoption.
