Designing the Next Generation of Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing Architectures
Iceberg Quantum is a Sydney, Australia-based quantum architecture company founded by three University of Sydney PhD alumni: Larry Cohen, Felix Thomsen, and Samuel Smith. The company designs fault-tolerant quantum computing architectures using Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes that reduce the physical qubit overhead for quantum error correction by over an order of magnitude, making useful quantum computing achievable much sooner. In March 2025, Iceberg Quantum raised $2M in pre-seed funding led by Blackbird, partnering with PsiQuantum. In February 2026, the company unveiled its Pinnacle architecture and raised a $6M seed round led by LocalGlobe, Blackbird, and DCVC. Partners include PsiQuantum, IonQ, and Diraq.
