Grand Junction Networks was founded in 1992 by Howard Charney (co-founder of 3Com) to develop 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet products. The company was the first to develop and sell desktop Fast Ethernet switches, including the FastSwitch 10/100. By September 1995, the company was acquired by Cisco Systems for approximately $348 million. The Grand Junction FastSwitch product line became the foundation for the Cisco Catalyst 1900 Series switches.
