Gmarket is a South Korean e-commerce marketplace founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of Interpark, initially known as Goodsdaq before being renamed Gmarket in 2003. It became the first South Korean company listed on NASDAQ in 2006, was acquired by eBay in 2009 for roughly $1.2 billion, and was sold to Shinsegae's E-Mart in 2021 for 3.4 trillion KRW (about $2.6 billion), becoming Korea's second-largest e-commerce platform after Coupang. Renamed Gmarket Global in 2022, it operates as a joint venture between Shinsegae (80.01%) and eBay (19.99%), and in December 2024 formed a 50:50 joint venture with Alibaba International.
