Genzyme

Genzyme was an American biotechnology company founded in 1981 that developed therapies for rare diseases, kidney disease, orthopedics, and cancer. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, it grew into one of the world's largest biotech firms before Sanofi acquired it in 2011. It then operated as Sanofi Genzyme, the specialty care unit focused on rare diseases and highly specialized medicines, until February 2022 when Sanofi retired the Sanofi Genzyme brand and integrated the former entity into Sanofi.
