Genuine Taste is a cellular agriculture company building next-generation fats. Their technology transforms flavour and nutrition, enabling a transition to a more sustainable food system, starting with cultivated beef fat. The company produces cultivated fat in bioreactors using stem cells isolated from animal biopsies, giving plant-based and hybrid foods improved taste, texture, and nutritional profile. Co-founded by CivMin PhD student Emily Farrar at the University of Toronto, Genuine Taste has won national competitions and participated in international engineering biology delegations.
