Frontier Markets is a Jaipur-based social commerce platform founded in 2011 by Ajaita Shah that distributes clean energy, climate-friendly, and essential consumer products to rural households in India through a network of digitally empowered women entrepreneurs called Sahelis. The company's Meri Saheli platform enables over 18,000 women-led phygital micro-stores to deliver products including solar goods, FMCG, healthcare, and financial services to last-mile villages within 15 minutes of rural households. Frontier Markets combines technology with a gender-inclusive business model to serve rural India's 100+ million potential consumers, and has won the Schwab Foundation Award for Social Entrepreneurship.
