First Light Fusion

First Light Fusion is the UK's only inertial fusion energy company, founded in 2011 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford. Its roughly 80-strong team of scientists, physicists, and engineers uses simulation, data science, and machine learning to pioneer novel inertial fusion energy (IFE) target designs that simplify the engineering required for practical, affordable fusion power plants. The company's in-house capabilities span computational physics, data-driven simulation design, precision manufacturing, and high energy density test facilities, including pulsed power machines and two-stage gas guns.
