ExploraMed is a venture-backed medical device incubator founded by Josh Makower, MD — Yock Family Professor of Medicine and Bioengineering at Stanford University and co-founder of the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign. The incubator is dedicated to identifying, inventing, and developing transformative medical devices addressing persistent unmet health needs. ExploraMed injects capital, IP, clinical, engineering, legal, and marketing expertise into its portfolio companies. Partnered with New Enterprise Associates (NEA), ExploraMed has successfully created 8 companies across four funds, including Acclarent (acquired by J&J) and NeoTract. ExploraMed V is the fifth fund, closed to continue innovation in new clinical areas. NEA first invested in ExploraMed V in 2017.
