EngageSmart

EngageSmart is a provider of vertical-specific SaaS software and integrated payment solutions for customer engagement, founded in 2009 and headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts. The company serves five core verticals -- health and wellness, government, utilities, financial services, and nonprofit giving -- through products including SimplePractice and InvoiceCloud. EngageSmart went public on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker ESMT in September 2021, pricing its IPO above range at $26.00 per share for gross proceeds of roughly $338 million, with shares opening about 44% higher for an implied valuation near $6 billion. In October 2023, Vista Equity Partners announced an agreement to acquire EngageSmart in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $4 billion, taking the company private. As of its final 10-K as a public company (fiscal year 2022), EngageSmart reported 971 employees, substantially all full-time and based in the United States.
