Elemental Technologies

Elemental Technologies was a software-defined video processing company founded in 2006 in Portland, Oregon. The company pioneered a software-based approach to replacing dedicated video hardware, enabling broadcasters, content providers, and media companies such as HBO, CNN, and NASA to encode, process, and deliver high-quality video at scale. Elemental's cloud-native platform allowed customers to transcode video for multi-screen delivery across broadcast, cable, satellite, and streaming services. The company was acquired by Amazon Web Services in October 2015 for approximately $296 million.
