Digit Soil provides the first sensor that can rapidly and precisely measure soil biological activity — a critical indicator of soil quality and plant growth for which no reliable fast tool previously existed. The company's flagship SEAR (Soil Enzymatic Activity Reader) device, named 'Bob', measures soil enzymatic activity directly in the field and combines this data with satellite imagery to offer farmers actionable intelligence on fertilizer timing and amounts. Digit Soil also provides software for smart farm management decisions. Founded by ETH Zürich researchers Hélène Iven, Sonia Meller, and Jasmin Fetzer, the company is an early-stage Swiss startup backed by Swiss Re, ETH Pioneer Fellowship, and ESA. It is transitioning from prototype to market launch in 2026.
