Robotic trailer unloading at 3x human speed
Dextrous Robotics developed a novel chopstick-style robotic system, the DX-1, designed to autonomously unload floor-loaded trailers and containers at up to 300% faster throughput than manual labor. Founded in Memphis, Tennessee by Evan Drumwright and Sam Zapolsky, the company focused on solving one of the most physically demanding tasks in logistics — unloading mixed-SKU boxes from truck trailers. The company was unable to secure follow-on funding to bring the DX-1 to commercial production and dissolved in late December 2023.
