About
Determined AI built an open-source deep learning training platform designed to increase the productivity of ML teams by automating infrastructure management, experiment tracking, and distributed training. The platform integrated with leading frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and Caffe2, enabling data scientists to run experiments at scale without managing cluster configuration manually. Key capabilities included automated hyperparameter search, fault-tolerant distributed training, and collaborative experiment management. Founded in 2017 by Ameet Talwalkar, Evan Sparks, and Neil Conway, the San Francisco-based company raised $13.6 million across a seed round and an $11 million Series A led by GV (Google Ventures) in 2019. Determined AI was acquired by Hewlett Packard Enterprise in 2021.
