Cytena BPS

Cytena BPS (now Leadgene Biosolutions) was a biotech instrumentation company founded in 2018 by engineers and scientists from the University of Freiburg's IMTEK Institute, supported by cytena GmbH (Germany) and operating within the BICO Group. The company specialized in advanced technologies for dynamic cell-culture control, high-throughput bioprocessing, and real-time culture monitoring, developing microbioreactor platforms (S.NEST, C.NEST) using patented pneumatic mixing technology that enables gentle, consistent, and scalable cell culture workflows. In 2025, following its transition out of the BICO Group, Cytena BPS integrated with Leadgene Biomedical (Taiwan) to form Leadgene Biosolutions, combining expertise in microfluidics, automation engineering, bioprocess design, assay development, and protein expression. The combined entity is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan and serves pharmaceutical, cell therapy, and cultivated meat research markets globally.
