Curza is a Salt Lake City-based biotechnology company developing novel small-molecule therapeutics to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and infectious diseases. Founded out of University of Utah technology, Curza has built a platform of structurally distinct proprietary drug classes targeting Gram-negative bacterial pathogens, including ESKAPE superbugs. Their lead program, CZ-02, represents a new class of broad-spectrum ribosomal antibiotics with a unique mechanism of action targeting an unexploited binding site. The company also develops antibiofilm antibiotics for infections such as tuberculosis, osteomyelitis, and device-related infections, with a strategy focused on non-dilutive government and foundation funding from NIH, DTRA, and CARB-X.
