CrowdCompass, founded in Portland, Oregon in 2009, created custom-branded mobile event apps for conferences, tradeshows and business events. The platform combined schedules, maps, exhibitor listings, QR code scanning, messaging and social networking into native iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry apps. CrowdCompass built over 435 apps downloaded more than 500,000 times before being acquired by Cvent for $10 million in June 2012.
