About

COUR Pharmaceuticals is an Evanston, Illinois clinical-stage biotechnology company developing first-in-class, antigen-specific immune tolerance therapies for autoimmune disease. Its proprietary COUR nanoparticles (CNPs) encapsulate disease-specific antigens and are engineered to mimic the anti-inflammatory signature of apoptotic cells, reprogramming upstream immune pathways to induce tolerance to those antigens rather than broadly suppressing immunity. The lead program, CNP-103, encapsulates four recombinant proteins believed to cover more than 95% of known type 1 diabetes antigens and is in an active Phase 2 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial (NCT06783309) in newly diagnosed patients aged 12-35. Additional candidates CNP-104 (primary biliary cholangitis) and CNP-106 (myasthenia gravis) are being partnered. The platform traces back to Stephen Miller's immune tolerance research at Northwestern University; CEO is Dannielle Appelhans.
