Colizey

Colizey was a French online marketplace founded in 2018 by Maxime Maffini-Scialom, Arnaud Lanier and Cyril, officially launching in Paris in March 2019 as the country's first digital marketplace 100% dedicated to sporting goods. It connected specialty stores and brands (later including Adidas) with sports enthusiasts across 27 sports categories, digitizing partner inventories and handling orders and logistics. The company raised a €2.5M seed round in 2020 and an €8M Series A led by Cathay Innovation in 2021, at its peak serving 350,000 customers via 250 merchants in 10 European countries. Colizey ceased operations in early 2025 after major sports brands imposed selective-distribution contracts that blocked marketplace sales, making it impossible to retain merchants or raise further financing.
