Chalk Schools

Chalk Schools was founded in 2012 by Sarah Chou and Qian Wang after the two met at Stanford's Graduate School of Education, an idea rooted in Chou's earlier work in Providence Public Schools; the company later rebranded to its current name, Informed K12. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, Informed K12 builds workflow-automation software that turns a school district's paper and PDF forms into online workflows — validating data at submission, routing each form to the right approver, and producing a time-stamped audit trail — for finance, HR, and student-services processes, while connecting to (rather than replacing) a district's existing ERP, HRIS, and SIS systems. The company now serves hundreds of school districts with a team of more than 75 employees.
