Celgene

Celgene Corporation was an American biopharmaceutical company that discovered, developed, and commercialized therapies for cancer and immune-inflammatory diseases, best known for its flagship drug Revlimid (lenalidomide) used to treat multiple myeloma and certain anemias. Founded in 1986 as a spin-off from Celanese following its merger with American Hoechst, Celgene grew into a major biopharma player through acquisitions such as Pharmion, Abraxis BioScience, Receptos, and Juno Therapeutics. Headquartered in Summit, New Jersey, the company reported $15.3 billion in revenue and employed roughly 8,850 people in 2018. Bristol-Myers Squibb acquired Celgene in November 2019 for approximately $74 billion, the largest pharmaceutical acquisition on record at the time.
