CATS Tonometer LLC is a Tucson, Arizona-based medical device company that manufactures the FDA-cleared CATS® Prism, a patented tonometer prism designed to deliver significantly more accurate intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement. The device provides 94% improved IOP accuracy compared to standard Goldmann prisms by compensating for biomechanical factors including central corneal thickness, corneal hysteresis, tear film, and corneal curvature. Available in reusable (CATS®-R) and disposable sterile single-use (CATS®-D) formats, the prism fits standard Goldmann-type slit-lamp tonometers. Founded by University of Arizona alumnus Dr. Sean McCafferty, the company received NIH SBIR Phase I and Phase II funding totaling over $1.1M. The CATS® Prism is FDA-cleared and made in the USA.
