About
BM&FBovespa, now known as B3 (B3 S.A. - Brasil, Bolsa, Balcao), is the primary securities, commodities and futures exchange of Brazil and the largest exchange operator in Latin America. It was created in 2008 through the merger of the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange (Bovespa) and the Brazilian Mercantile and Futures Exchange (BM&F), whose roots trace back to the 1890 founding of Bovespa. In 2017 BM&FBovespa merged with the clearing and settlement firm CETIP to form B3. Headquartered in Sao Paulo, the exchange operates trading, clearing, depository and registration infrastructure across equities, fixed income, derivatives and OTC markets, and is itself a publicly listed company.
