Blu Age was a French software company specializing in automated modernization of legacy enterprise applications. Its platform automatically converted COBOL, PL/1, RPG/400, and other legacy languages into modern object-oriented Java applications with Angular frontends, running on cloud-native infrastructure including PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, and other modern databases. The technology was used in over 20 countries to transform hundreds of millions of lines of legacy code. Blu Age was acquired by AWS and its technology became the foundation for AWS Mainframe Modernization (now AWS Transform for Mainframe), which uses agentic AI to accelerate mainframe migration projects.
