BioOilSolv develops biomass-derived solvents from agricultural and forestry waste as drop-in replacements for petrochemical solvents in oil sands extraction, industrial cleaning, coatings, and fuel additives. The company's flagship solvent targets solvent-assisted SAGD bitumen recovery, promising significant GHG reductions and improved production economics for oil sands operators. It is a University of Calgary spinoff working with Imperial Oil to validate the technology at pilot scale.
