Benerg builds building-scale biogas bioreactors that convert food waste on-site into electricity or heat and organic fertilizer. The modular machines are aimed at commercial sites such as hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls, and are monitored around the clock through an IoT system. Company materials say as little as 10 kg of food waste per day can generate enough energy for more than ten households for a year, while cutting disposal costs and methane emissions. Founded in 2024 in Helsinki as Benerg Oy, it sells to organizations that want off-grid power from waste they already produce.
