Baan Company

The Baan Corporation was founded in 1978 in Barneveld, Netherlands by Jan Baan, initially providing financial and administrative consulting before pivoting to enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. It grew into one of SAP's fiercest competitors through the 1990s, winning major clients like Boeing and going public on Nasdaq and the Amsterdam exchange in 1995. Following a 1998 accounting scandal and revenue decline, Invensys acquired Baan in 2000; the ERP product was later sold to SSA Global in 2003 and ultimately folded into Infor Global Solutions in 2006.
