Software-powered retail for every product
B8ta was a software-powered retail-as-a-service startup founded in 2015 in Palo Alto, California, that made physical retail accessible for consumer technology brands. Rather than earning revenue from product sales, b8ta charged brands a subscription fee for retail shelf space, staff, and in-store analytics — tracking shopper behavior and providing consumer insights to participating brands. The company partnered with Lowe's, Macy's, and other major retailers before shuttering its U.S. operations in early 2022 after failing to reach a deal with landlords.
