Aventones

Aventones was a Mexico City-based carpooling and ridesharing platform founded in 2010 by Alberto Padilla Luengas, Ignacio Cordero, and Aníbal Abarca Gil. The company built an online platform and mobile application enabling users to organize and share car rides within trusted communities such as corporations, universities, and government agencies. Participants could offer or request carpool rides, matching on routes, schedules, and available seats in a secure, community-gated environment. Aventones won multiple startup competitions including Start-Up Chile, Desafío Intel Mexico, the World Youth Summit Award from the United Nations in the 'Go Green' category, and TIC Americas organized by the OAS. The company raised approximately $300,000 in total funding across two rounds, with investors including NXTP Ventures and ALLVP. In April 2015, Aventones was acquired by BlaBlaCar, the French long-distance carpooling leader, marking BlaBlaCar's debut in the Latin American market. The acquisition was BlaBlaCar's first exit for ALLVP. Following the acquisition, Aventones operated under BlaBlaCar's brand, and the original aventones.com domain now redirects to BlaBlaCar's platform.
