Autoscience Institute is an applied research lab based in San Mateo, California, that builds AI systems to autonomously conduct machine learning research and invent new AI models. The company's managed service deploys hundreds of automated AI Research Scientists that continuously generate and ship improvements to customers' ML models, compressing years of research into months. Autoscience first gained recognition when its system produced the first AI-generated peer-reviewed scientific paper (ICLR 2025 workshop) and won a Silver Medal in the Kaggle Santa 2025 competition against 3,300 teams. The company raised $14M in seed funding in March 2026, led by General Catalyst with participation from Perplexity Fund, Toyota Ventures, S32, and MaC Ventures.
