Asiabiome

AsiaBiome (originally Civet Biosciences) was the first microbiome-focused startup in Asia, founded in Hong Kong in 2016. The company built a human microbiota donor network of over 8,000 participants across Asia and supported multiple fecal microbiome transplant (FMT) studies. AsiaBiome created a human microbiome bank to support fecal transplants and help identify which bacteria are important for human health and disease treatment. In November 2022, AsiaBiome was acquired by Holobiome, a Boston-based microbiome science company, to expand Holobiome's bacterial strain collection with Asian gut microbiome samples and datasets. AsiaBiome was backed by 500 Startups, StartUp Health, Katapult Accelerator, and angel investors.
