Ascension unlocks a new global supply of critical minerals, including rare earth elements, from volcanic rock using a rapid-to-deploy, capex- and opex-light process powered by geothermal heat rather than large-scale excavation. Co-founded by Oxford researchers Professor Jon Blundy and Professor Mike Kendall alongside CEO Motoaki Sumi, the company operates fieldwork in Oxford, Kenya, the United States, and the European Union to responsibly source metals while minimizing surface disturbance and environmental impact.
