Founded in 1994 by Michael Davis and Yung Nguyen in Louisville, Kentucky, Appriss built its foundation on VINE, the nation's first automated victim notification system. The company expanded into retail loss prevention, public safety analytics, and behavioral health coordination. Appriss was acquired by Equifax in 2022 and now operates as part of Equifax's business solutions division.
