Rapid, on-site DNA-based water quality sensing
ANDalyze developed DNA-enzyme (DNAzyme) based biosensors for rapid, on-site detection of heavy metals and hazardous contaminants in water. The company's handheld fluorimeter device delivers quantitative fluorescence-based results in under two minutes without requiring laboratory infrastructure. ANDalyze's sensors detect lead, uranium, copper, mercury, zinc, and cadmium at EPA-regulated concentration limits. The technology was deployed during the Flint, Michigan water crisis to assess lead levels in school water supplies. Founded as a University of Illinois spinout, ANDalyze was acquired by AlpHa Measurement Solutions LLC in January 2022 and continues to operate as a brand within AlpHa's liquid sensing portfolio.
