AMISYS Managed Care

AMISYS Managed Care Systems, Inc. was a Rockville, Maryland-based healthcare information technology company that developed software and web-based systems for managed care health plans and insurance payers. Founded in 1989, AMISYS provided information management software enabling health plans to administer member eligibility, claims processing, provider networks, and utilization management. The company completed a public offering in December 1995 on NASDAQ at $24.50 per share. AMISYS was subsequently acquired by HBO & Company (HBOC), a leading healthcare IT firm, which was in turn acquired by McKesson Corporation in 1999. The AMISYS platform continued under subsequent ownership and later became part of DST Systems' healthcare payer software portfolio, eventually absorbed into SS&C Technologies after DST's acquisition.
