About

Amherst Pierpont Securities was an independent U.S. broker-dealer specializing in fixed-income capital markets, offering clients access to a broad range of products including U.S. Treasuries, agency MBS, ABS, and other structured products. Formed in 2010 as a de novo broker-dealer focused on government securities, it took its name in October 2014 when Amherst Holdings and Pierpont Securities combined their broker-dealer businesses. In 2019 it became one of only a handful of non-bank firms designated a Primary Dealer by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Banco Santander, through Santander Holdings USA, acquired the firm for roughly $600 million, closing in April 2022, after which it was folded into Santander US Capital Markets (SanCap) in early 2023.
