ACL Airshop is a technology-enabled global provider of Unit Load Device (ULD) leasing, cargo control, and air freight logistics services for the aviation industry. The company traces its origins to 1979 when a predecessor sole proprietorship began air-shipping horses, incorporating in 1983 as Airline Equipment Services. In 1984, the company invented the short-term ULD leasing business model as Airline Container Leasing. After decades of organic growth and acquisitions — including the 1996 formation of Airshop BV in Amsterdam — the current ACL Airshop entity was formed in 2007 when Airline Container Leasing merged with Airshop Holdings of Amsterdam. In 2016, ACL Airshop was acquired by Ranger Aerospace and institutional co-investors, launching a phase of rapid global expansion. By 2023, the company celebrated 40 years of operations and serves over 200 airlines across a global network of 57+ locations on six continents. Core services include ULD leasing and sales, ULD repair stations, ULD management and control software (FindMyULD Bluetooth tracking), and manufacturing of cargo nets and straps. ACL Airshop is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina and was acquired by infrastructure investor Alinda Capital Partners in 2021.
