The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a pan-African multilateral financial institution established in 1993 and headquartered in Cairo, Egypt. Its mission is to stimulate the consistent expansion, diversification, and development of African trade by providing trade finance, project financing, export development advisory, guarantees, and syndications to governments, financial institutions, and large corporates across the continent. Afreximbank serves as a center of excellence in African trade matters and supports the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework by financing the ecosystem that enables intra- and extra-African commerce. The bank holds investment-grade credit ratings and has grown to a balance sheet exceeding $40 billion.
