Acciyo (later rebranded as Below the Fold) was a Boston-based startup founded by MIT Sloan MBA graduates Anum Hussain and Vivian Diep. The company built a Google Chrome extension that used natural language processing to automatically surface contextual background information alongside news articles. As users read a story, the extension displayed an interactive, movable timeline of previously published articles on the same topic — drawn from AP and Reuters wire content — to help readers understand the full arc of developing news stories. Acciyo won the AI Startup Battle at PAPIs '18 in Boston in October 2018. The product was aimed at senior professionals and news enthusiasts who wanted depth rather than summaries.
