4pi Lab uses satellites to detect wildfires from space, spotting fires as small as 5 metres on Earth's nightside and 10 metres on the dayside. With a planned constellation of 16 satellites, the company transmits early detection alerts to ground teams in real time, shifting wildfire management from suppression toward earlier detection. Wildfires cost governments, insurance companies, and industrial operations billions of dollars each year; earlier satellite detection aims to prevent property loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The team develops remote sensing technology to detect, monitor, and respond to wildfires and their emissions.
