Enterprise-Class RAID Storage at Commodity Drive Costs
Founded in 1997 in Sunnyvale, California, 3ware pioneered the StorSwitch architecture for high-performance RAID storage controllers for servers and workstations. The company sold RAID solutions using ATA and SATA drives to VARs, OEMs, and system integrators. Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) acquired 3ware in March 2004 for approximately $150 million; LSI Corporation subsequently acquired the 3ware RAID business from AMCC in April 2009.
