
3Com Corporation was an American digital electronics and computer networking company co-founded in 1979 by Robert Metcalfe (co-inventor of Ethernet), Howard Charney, and others. Based in Santa Clara, California, 3Com manufactured network interface controllers, switches, routers, wireless access points, and IP telephony systems. At its peak the company had over 12,000 employees and $1.3 billion in annual revenue. Hewlett-Packard acquired 3Com in April 2010 for $2.7 billion, subsequently integrating it into HPE's Aruba Networks division.
